Slabgate
Thursday 5th May: an early start with one volunteer/trustee lending his Land Rover and muscles to move paving slabs from Sustead to West Beckham Old Allotments (WBOA), with the help of another trustee/volunteer, who had donated the slabs. They needed three journeys but, with the help of others at WBOA, the slabs were unloaded and await the day when they will become the floor of the main storage shed at the site.
Other volunteers spent the morning either clearing tree and hedge plants or tidying up around the pond – beautifying the butterfly bank by removing docks, nettles and unwanted grass. And – a first for WBOA pond! – there are tadpoles!
Thanks to all, especially the slab movers. Our next work party is in Sustead on Tuesday May 17th.
