Hawfinch - an amazing addition!

Since Sunday we've had a small flock of Hawfinch in the village. These are fabulous parrot-like birds with strong nut-cracking beaks. They probably still breed in very small numbers in North Norfolk somewhere but are better known as winter visitors. It's been nearly a decade since I last saw them in Felbrigg Park, my local patch. Today we were watching them, when two birds peeled off and flew towards the Village Hall. I popped my head in on Mallett's Meadows, and there they were, sitting in one of the big oaks by the pond. A very impressive addition to the list!
